Hurricane clips... is this ok?

Hi, y'all. I'm working on building a 24X30 shop on a monolithic slab in my back yard. I have the walls mostly up and the trusses are up. I was going to use hurricane clips on the trusses, but today I was out there working on the wall sheathing and I got carried away and covered an entire wall with the sheathing, forgetting about the hurricane clips. Is it ok to nail them (the hurricane clips) to the outside of the OSB board? It seems like it would be ok, but if not I'm going to have to tear the OSB from the walls where it's at the topmost point so I can put the hurricane clips in place and then put the OSB back. Please tell me it's ok to put the hurricane clips on the outside of the OSB... Seems like it should be ok. What's the verdict? Thanks! :)

Drive them in with screws and put them on. We also place them on the inside instead of the outside.

Of course it is better to nail the clips to framing, but, as advised, putting screws through the OSB and into the framing will be OK, too.
Good Luck!
Mike

Ours are always spec'd for the inside and 10d nails. If you are allowed screws...go for it...save the fingers

Thanks for the feedback and advice, guys! I installed them on the inside today. I used the galvanized 10d nails that apparently are intended for this kind of thing (they were right next to the hurricane clips at Home Depot). Only busted my left thumb once, but did a pretty good job of it. OUCH! Project is coming right along, though. WAHOOO!

I guess one of us forgot to tell you for $ 60.00 you can buy a palm air nailer which works really good on those hanger nails and saves the fingers...ooops

Merry Christmas
