I see them mounted on light blocks, 5/4" cedar, then J next to, flash over, rubber gasket under fixture. That....... was alot of commas!

how to trim out this light with vinyl?
hmmm... those would really make it stick out from the wall....
can i...... take some sheet rubber from an old roof, staple it to the sheathing, J-channel around the area and mount the light that way? then i'd just have black around the edges. orrrr..... i can cut some vinyl strip to fill in the same areas? the light is high up with a 2ft. overhang, so i don't worry about wet at all. tnkx! how to trim out this light with vinyl?
here's how i decided to do it.
(thanks for the ideas though, but a block would stick out too far.) i cut corner pieces from flat scraps, left the rubber gasket, (didn't even have to undo the fixture!), siliconed the edges and used it to stick the pieces as well, then did J-channel around. the lamp i got for $3.00 at Habitat for Humanity ReStore and rewired in a new socket and painted it. How's it look? DM

Since you don't have any water to worry about, I think that turned out really well. I actually like it better than the typical block.

without the common light box I think I wouldve extended the wall box to come out to the same width as the siding then sided up to it, installed the light over the siding and then siliconed around the perimeter. The siding looks thin enough and IMHO, the J bead looks kinda cheesy Mouse.
