How to seal one corner of a deck from moisture?

I have a deck where one corner has moisture problems, because there is drainage there and it is always in the shade. I've covered it temporarily with a piece of plywood. I don't want any moisture to get down there because it never dries out.
I've been thinking of replacing the plywood with a painted piece of sheet metal. Has anyone had this problem?
I like the sheet metal because it will lie flat and be unnoticeable. I'm wondering, however, if condensation will form under it in the morning and keep that corner damp.

Thanks

Why don't you post a picture? Covering wet wood with tin will speed up the rotting---Mike----

You can see the plywood. I'm thinking about a piece of sheet metal down there to keep rain and condensation out, because it is in the shade most of the time. But I'm not sure if it will work.

I guess no one has any better idea than mine, so I'll go ahead and slap on some sheet metal over that corner. I'll check it every 6 months or so to make sure rot isn't taking under it.

Why is there drainage there? It looks like there has been plenty of trouble there in the past. The bottom of the door casing has been replaced, probably from rot. And the threshold seems to have suffered over time as well. The only avenue the wood has to dry out is air circulation. If you cover it up it will never dry--may even be rotten by your first six month inspection.

You really need to address the source of the moisture. Figure out where the water is coming from in the first place and remedy that.
