How to seal between stone facade and window frame?

Hi, I've got a stone facade on the front of my house, and I'm noticing some gaps between the stone and the window frames. There was some previous repairs done before I got the house. Some repairs used caulk, others used mortar or hydraulic cement. What is the correct method/material to seal gaps between the wood frames and the stone?

Burnt sand mastic is the traditional method.

How to seal between stone facade and window frame?

i would recommend pulling all old caulking/mortar out and installing a properly sized foam backer rod then caulk with a high quality urethane sealant

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I think I'll try the backer rod and urethane sealant route. I don't have any experience with mixing & applying mastic so I think I'd have to leave that up to a pro!
