How to roof over a removed wooden fireplace chase.

I removed an unused exterior fireplace chase at the roof line due to non use and severe decay. The chase sticks out a foot at the edge of a sloped roof and I want to know how to frame it and roof over the framing. There is vinyl siding around the chase. Should I just use the same slope as the roof or should I slope the roof down at the outside wall line perpendicular to the roof line?
