How to remove plaster molding from popcorn plaster ceiling??
What way's has anyone successfully removed the plaster crown molding that was part of the ceiling in older homes?? It was the style back them but am doing some renovations in the room and want it gone. I decided to do 1/2 drywall over the ceiling to cover the popcorn look, and I am not interested in discussions on the asbestos in the popcorn or soaking and scrapping the popcorn as it would be easier option. So please just comments on the molding aspect. Do I basically have to cut it out or maybe build a bulkhead of some sort?? Any ideas?? Thanks Guys, Fern
I take a garden sprayer to wet it down and then use a large 6" wide scraper (found at any drywall supply) to scrap off wide sections and let it fall into a 5 gal. pail. Wear a good respirator as it may contain asbestos.
