how to lay my decking boards


im trying to have no seems in my deck and the only way i can do that is to run my decking boards the same way ive run my joist can i do that? im putting in enough bridging inbetween each joist so theres no sagging my deck is 28 wide an 14 long

how to lay my decking boards


If you're running the deck boards the 14" direction, you can get away with no seams. How much blocking you would need, as posted by jlhaslip, would depend on the decking material.
If you were using 2x4's or 6's, you could get away with blocking at 24". Using 5/4" material would require 16" spacing.
If you're using exposed fasteners, you will need to line up the blocking if you want the screws in a straight line.

im useing 2x10 pressure treated wood i want no seems but i keep reading everywhere that u must run your decking the opposite way your joist are so im kinda confused i want the deck to be sturdy and i know if i run the board opposite of the joist it will be sturdy not sure what to do

You can run the decking perpendicular to the joists using 14' decking by put a style strip in the center running with the joists and then butting the 14' decking into that strip.
