how to insulate rim joist with drop cieling

What is the proper way to insulate a rim joist in the basement when you have a drop cieling? Right now I have walls drywalled up to the joists for the 1st floor... then the rim joists are not insulated... the cieling is a drop cieling and I dont want to drywall it due to the amount of plumbing in there...

Rigid foam insulation. You can either cut pieces of solid foam and then spray foam them with a can to seal it good and hold them in place OR buy the spray foam kits that they sell.

doesnt that still need to be covered up as a 15minute fire barrier? or does the drop cieling count as that?
