I'm about to tile around my tub. It sounds like 5' above the top of the tub is standard, but some go all the way to the top. I'm curious of your opinions on what to do here. See the photo. The top of the current surround is at exactly 5'.
I was thinking of just going to the top of the door moulding, but that's just above the shower head and I don't want it to look crowded. Or I could do 5' as it is, but that's below the shower head. Is that weird?
I like the look of going all the way to the ceiling in a larger bathroom, but not so much in smaller bathroom as the tile can become too much of a good thing. I do like to have the shower rod and shower head fall in the tile field and not on drywall above, which would be higher than what is in your picture. High enough to have splashing water land on tile - not drywall or the top edge of the tile surround.
