how to fix the drywall around window frame....

Had a new set of windows put in about a year ago. Windows continued to leak whenever it rained hard. The cause of the leak was due to rotting wood around the exterior wood paneling around the windows. The wood paneling have been replaced and it is no longer leaking.

On the interior, the drywall around some parts of the window are crumbly or weak due to water seeping through previously. There is a drywall hole on a corner of the window and the inside wood paneling around one part of the window is not set firmly against the drywall; there is space between the drywall and the wood paneling (see attachments). I'm pretty much a beginner in all of this. Any easy suggestions to fix this.

Looks like mostly loose paint. Scrape all the loose stuff off. Mesh tape and first coat with setting type compound (6" knife will do). A skim (or two if needed) with regular ready mix. Sand and paint.
