How to fill in gaps under concrete form boards

I'm going to pour concrete to extend my patio a few more inches into the driveway. I will be laying the form boards on my driveway, which is not level. The driveway has a gradual slope, plus a few small bumps here and there. How do I fill in the gaps under the form boards so the concrete doesn't run underneath them?

How to fill in gaps under concrete form boards

Do I staple it all the way from top to bottom and leave a little extra hanging down to fill in any gaps?

Will that dirt be strong enough to prevent the concrete from sneaking through the gaps under the forms? Just curious because it seems like the concrete would be able to slowly push the dirt out.
