I have an old property which I'm trying to renovate!! :-)
I have pulled out the old fireplace as it was a really bad mix of styles, and am now left with a hole.
I have purchased a fireplace, but it came without fixings.
It is an old fashioned style fireplace that has a solid metal back and intergrated grate. Edwardian style. I need to know from anyone who does, how do I fix this into the existing hole and then how do I fix the stone mantlepiece around the outside? Which is in three pieces, uprights and then lintel/mantleshelf.
If the brick hole is a greater depth than the new metal one do I have to block this in?!!!
Sorry there are a lot of questions I know, but I really need help as sanding the floors in two weeks and need to get this done urgently.
I'm afraid I don't have the budget to get someone in to do it for me as they wanted nearly as much as I'd paid for the fireplace in the first instance.
I will have to get someone to help me anyway, but hopefully in return for a couple of beers and a homecooked meal. :-)
