How do you attach a portico to the side of a house?
I am replacing the siding on the front of my house and would like to put up a portico over the entry, the front of it would be held by 2 posts, but I would like to just attach the back trusses to the house with hangers or something (if it's possible) or do I have to put 2 bearing posts on the back also? It’s only going to be about 5’ wide by 6’ long and I live in Minnesota so it needs to be able to hold some snow. When I think about these things hanging off the front of houses I always wonder how they don't just blow right off in a stiff wind.
