how do put a deck beam on posts

my posts are 7 feet high and i was plannibg to put my beam on the posts, but how do i get a 4"x 10" by 30 feet beam in the air

Friends / neighbors + some beer might work. That's my usual tactic.

Are you going to place that beam into a notch on the posts?

Is this a soild 4 X 10 beam? You would be better off with 3, 2X's instead, even then 30' is to long for a span between the post, and use 6 X 6 post, not 4 X 4's.

7' isn't that high. No ladders involved. Like Done That said, couple neighbors and a few beers sounds like the best option.

As Joe said, you do know a 4x10 cannot span 30'...... you need this for sure:
