How to determine existing insulation R-Value

I started replacing my old insulation. I'm trying to determine if the effort is really worth it. The old insulation is just over 1/2 as thick as R-13, but on one side is thick (for paper) and shiny metallic looking. the back side is paper . I've attached a picture of it, next to a piece of r-13. I don't need to know the exact r-value of the old insulation, but I trying to figure out if I'm making my house better. Some of my rooms and walls are cold in the winter (one cabinet in the kitchen feels like a mini fridge).

How to determine existing insulation R-Value

It is always worth it.... that foil-faced is around R-7-9, less if not in full contact with the drywall; The "biggest loser" in fiberglass insulation....
