How to build front entryway steps


I have to make a decision about how to build my front entryway steps.

My frontdoor threshold is 20 inches higher than the outside ground. So I need two stair steps plus the landing area (a small deck).

If I build form then pour concrete, I need about a yard. I am afraid the weight will cause the foundation to settle unevenly.

If I build a deck with treated wood, the curb appeal will be awful.

I am capable to DIY either project by now. However I don't feel good about neither. Could anyone give me any advice? Thanks a lot!

Making them out of wood doesn't mean poor curb appeal:

I framed these ones with PT.

After-ish (before painting and finishing a few small trim details)


Looks much better painted gray and white, but no photos on my computer.

Also they're having a new walkway put in. It will be level with the bottom step.


But anyway, you can get creative, don't limit yourself to pouring concrete or a PT deck.

You don't have to be elaborate to look half decent.
