How to attach bball hoop to roof

Hi, I want to mount my basketball hoop to my garage roof above the door. Any tips, hints, suggestions or maybe even photos to help me along with this? Thanks!

We had one on our garage roof, when I was growing up. As I recall, they used perforated steel 'L' angle. It was a rectangle at the front, the base of the rectangle was lagged into blocking under the roof. It also had two diagonal braces one on each side between the top corner of the rectangle to the roof and these were bolted to short pices of the angle lagged into blocking under the roof.
Hopefully, your garage doors will be able to stand up to the errant shots and passes from a basketball.

I was thinking about the door. My idea was to open the door when playing and rig up a soccer goal net in its place when I play so the ball bounces back or at least lands in the net on the very rare occasions I might throw an air ball........

I like the idea of a soccer net, maybe you could mount some screw hooks into the inside framing of the door.

Screw hooks would make it easy to set up the net quickly. Nice idea.
