Our home has a detatched garage and a very long driveway. We are hoping to convert the garage to a master bedroom and extend the side of house over the drivway and connect the detatched garage to this new addition. The new addition over the driveway will most likely be a garage, since we are converting the existing garage.
My question: Will we have to tear up the driveway or can the new additions foundation be built directly on top of it?

Unfortunatly no, a house foundation and a driveway are differing. A proper foundation with appropriate footing need to go under the house addition.
