holster for impact driver?

Ok, I'm convinced my DeWalt 18v impact driver is tough. It's fallen off my tool belt hook twice, down 10 ft onto concrete with zero damage to the tool or slab. One problem is that the extra bit won't stay in the little clip. Except for that, I really like it!

But mostly I need a better way to hang it on my tool belt. I see some systems use holster with velcro straps. Does that work?

The DeWalt driver has a hole in the butt end, just above the battery so I could rig a loop through it - maybe polypropylene since it's stiff, and a biner (snap-link) to another loop on my belt. But then I've got not just a hammer dangling, but also the driver, which means getting even more tangled up in ladders and truss framing.

So what do you guys do?

I have a drill holster from Makita. Don't know if they still make it. I've had it for 20 years.
