Hole in the air duct

My central air duct has 2 holes the size of nickels (about 0.5" across). Can I just clean and tape it with duct tape?

If I were to replace it, it looks like it'll be a lot of work.

Hole in the air duct

Buy the metal foil tape not duct tape. The duct tape will fall off in time.
