hiding brassy nail heads in exterior rough cedar siding

we recently installed shiplap (dolly varden) rough cedar siding and we have some nail heads that show. How can I cover them without making a bigger mess than I have already.

Dolly Shiplap is a exposed nail siding.

You can’t properly nail it without seeing the nails, so I’m not understanding your question.

Post some pictures.

Salt water and vinegar with an artists brush might be worth a try. You can probably find a formula online or even a commercial product.
