Help with new cracks in textured walls

Hi,
I moved into my house in Virginia just over a year ago. The house is 9 years old. The walls and ceilings are all textured with a swirl pattern. In the last few weeks I have noticed some cracks appearing around the windows and in the corners where the walls meet. Around the windows it appears the the material they used to texture the walls is separating away from the wall. When I chip away the loose material there is not a crack in the wall behind it. Is this common? Can the quick changes in the weather cause this? Its been warm then real cold, then warm. As I look around the house it seems that the previous owner must have repaired some of these before.
I had the house inspected before purchasing it and there were no indications of any foundation problems.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ayuh,......

My Guess is,....
The coating is separating from the drywall due to changing Temps,+ Humidity.......

Poor Preparation before it was painted on could also possibly be a contributing factor......

Bondo is correct. The individual who applied the texture probably should have sealed the wall before application, especially if the area is prone to high humidity. But, I think you may have a deeper problem than just texture.

Is the house insulated? Do you know if it has a vapor barrier or house wrap?

If you're getting temperature fluctuations in your wall that are enough to cause condensation, you could eventually have a problem with mildew.

Also, check the insulation in those areas. Specifically around the windows. It is very common, when windows are not properly insulated between their frames and the rough openings, for the drywall to crack from the extreme temperature change of the very cold cavity and the walls.
