Help me choose a fireplace stone.

I'm trying to decide between two fireplace stones for my new house. Which do you think looks better; the Wisconsin Ledgestone (1st image), or Wisconsin Mountain Rubble (2nd image)?

Admittedly, this is a little unfair because one home is decorated and the other is under construction, but please try to ignore that.

given the two to pick from I would go with the second one but a more netural color stone would leave you more options when it comes to wall color now and in the future

My vote goes for the second pick.

Is that the same interior detail? If so, then the first is somewhat out of scale. The second is better, though I would use a lighter color stone.

It's the same size fireplace and same style of home, although the first has side windows and the second doesn't. That may be creating an optical illusion of sorts. Plus, the first was newly done so the mortar's not dry yet.

The size of the stones vs your distance when viewing them is what matters. If you will be looking at them from 6 feet away, the first is better. If 20 feet away, the second is better.

I understand. I can't remember the distances, but if I had to guess I'd say the second one was about twice as far away as the first and shot from the second story bridge instead of at floor height.
