Question

Help installing post caps on vinyl fence

Hello,

I am looking for some advice on installing caps on a new fence I installed. The caps have a small tab on each side that act as a lip on which the caps rest, and some sort of super glue was included, which I assume I was supposed to apply to the cap, then just simply place on top of the post. However, the glue on the cap doesn't react with the vinyl sleeves that go inside the post, which cover the lip of the vinyl post. Result, the glue doesn't do anything.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I thought about separating the two halves of the cap, which come apart easily, then screwing the bottom side into the post, and then snapping the two halves back together.
