Help

I am redoing my bathroom and putting in a tile shower. I ripped out the old Drywall and installed Moisture resistant drywall. I was going to put cement board over the drywall before tiling. Do I need anything in between these? I installed 5/8 inch moisture resistant drywall. This is my first time doing a tile shower and I want to get it right.

Usually cement board is in place of drywall. Will the extra thickness affect the tile to the lip of the shower / tub?

You are going to have to water tight the interior face of whatever wall board you use. If it were my shower I'd go one of two ways.

Drywall with Kerdi Membrane over that

Or

Concrete board (wonderboard) with Red Gaurd (or some other roll on membrane) over that.

So are you saying that I can use the drywall with just the membrane and not use the cement board?
