Hanging really heavy mirror
just be sure you hang it on & w/something that can hold that weight,,, nominal shear strength of fasteners ( hooks ) should be dble the load's weight,,, this means either a good size'd nail OR screw into the 2x4 behind the drywall

Hanging really heavy mirror
HD/Lowes did not have the hardware I needed to safely mount a similarly large mirror and picture. I bought a flat strip of metal 1 x 24 x 1/8 and made two 8 inch strips, drilled 4 holes on each strip. I used 3 screws to install each strip on the back of the mirror and connected the remaining hole with metal wire. Find the stud and use a good size threaded L-shaped hanging screw or 2
