Once my shed is finally built I want to hang my large ladder on the side of it. The ladder is 12' long at its shortest which is why I want to keep it outside to save space. My question is, how can I mount hooks to the side of the shed with vinyl siding? Is there a certain type I should look for?
I would set a couple of posts, treated 4x4's or round wood fence posts, or even metal T posts for that matter, along side of the shed, and hang it from them, rather than punching holes in and having it rub against the siding.
Vinyl siding has to be able to expand and contract, that's why there's elongated holes for the nails. Nail it tight and it buckles.
Rust on the side of the building from the fastners, change of leaks, poking hole in in the siding. All reasons not to do it.
