Hi, i'm replacing my old bathroom and installing a wetroom. the tiles i,ve chosen for the walls are 600/300 black granite tiles. my existing walls are plaster but have been told i can't put these tiles on plaster due to the wieght. having spoke to several people traders/tilers builders, ect i,m getting conflicting reports on how to install the tiles. some say i can tile on the plaster as long as it is in good condition, some say i can tile directly onto the brickwork, others say strip the old plaster of and renew with batoning and plasterboard or dot and dabbing with new plaster board others say dotting and dabbing is'nt strong enough batoning is stronger. as you can see as i am not a builder and this is becoming quite confusing. i would apreciate it if you could help me resolve this problem as i would like to start the work as soon as possible. thanks a lot
What country are you in? Batoning, dotting, dabbing and wetroom need a translation.
Here in the USA, we don't put tile on plaster in a wet room. Tile in the shower area would go on cement board or something similiar.
