Granite Tile ....on wall ?

Ok...so I want to take jet black granite tiles, and install onto the wall behind the stove. In front of the tile will be a stainless steel/glass range hood and a stainless/black stove.

My concern is the weight of the tile. I plan on ripping out the drywall, and putting up concrete board.

What type of thinset should I use, the same as for floor install?

How do I stop the tiles from sagging or falling off! while the thinset cures..."T Brace" from the floor to each tile ? or each row of tiles..?

Any ideas welcome (other than....you complete idiot, why not use wall tiles)

You asked for that!

Yes, you can put granite on your walls. Use a good modified thinset. Start at the bottom, work your way up. The tile will not fall off while the thinset cures.

Granite Tile ....on wall ?

when you say "modified thinset".....is that the same mix I used when I put down the floor, only with either less....or more water ?

Well, I don't know what you used on the floor.

Home Depot has some stuff made by custom building products that is specifically for granite and marble, or thier flex bond is good. Comes in 50 pound bags.

Flexbond or Versabond will work fine as any modified should, no need for the Granite and Marble thinset, that's a medium bed thinset and helps with heavy tile when setting on floors and countertops, you only add water to the thinsets mentioned above, space the granite 1/16" and use unsanded grout.

Thanks for jumping in Richie.
I knew you would show up sooner or later.
I almost sent him to you down @ flooring, but figured "what the heck"

I've learned enough from "you guys" over ther to handle this one.

How old is the leftover?, unopened thinset and grout have a year shelf life, once opened I would use it up in a couple of months or toss it and buy fresh, if any lumps at all in any of the 2, get rid of it.
