Grade on slab, 2" Foam Insulation - XPS, Required 3" termite inspection gap???
I am planning a new construction steel building with grade on slab in a different state (WA). The building will use in floor heating as the main source of heat so I want to insulate the bottom and sides of the slab with 2" XPS foam.
Apparently some states require a 3" termite inspection gap, I do not know if WA does but termites are apparently active in all parts of WA.
What is a 3" termite inspection gap and how is it constructed?
Does anyone have any pictures?
Are there any good alternatives with a high R value that would avoid this issue and better insulate the full slab?
Does WA require a 3" termite inspection gap and is it necessary on steel construction residential homes?
