garage walls
 

i am not sure if my question is directed generally to stucco/dryall...I have been doing some hole patching work in my garage and found that the walls of my garage have hole which look like its filled with stucco, and noticible hairs/wires coming from each hole...I am just a joe-schmoe homeowner so i am not sure if this is normal, because it is not throughout the house, just in the garage. I will included pictures of what i am asking about, can someone please explain to me what it is..thank you!

That is typical with older homes. The holes in the Gypsum board are there to hold the Plaster. Works the same way that Lathe did for Plaster work. The hair in the Plaster if any, would be Horse Hair, but should not for the time frame that the home was built (pre-WWII 1937 aprx).
