garage footing width

I am planning my 36' X 40' building and estimating the cement. I know that in Kansas the footing should be 36" to 42" deep. I was thinking 6" in thicknes, is this correct?

Thanks.

Is this building 1,2,3 stories/total weight footings are holding? Very difficult to answer a question like that. Are you doing this yourself? If not why not get an estimate from a concrete pro?

Footing should be twice the width of your stem wall. You are talking 6" stem wall so footing should be 12" wide by 8" thick. Bottom of footing should be 36" in Ks.:)
