Garage Door Extension Spring Question
Last week one of the extension springs in my garage door snapped (luckily we're already inside the house when this occurred).
I went into Home Depot and brought the old extension spring with me and the person at HD game me a white color coded spring (110lbs). Also purchased new pulleys and extension cables (safely cable already included with the springs).
Here is the problem, when I installed the new extension springs (both sides), the garage door is hard to close (feels heavy when closing) and when I let go it springs right back up and won't stay midway. Now to check if I installed it wrong, I removed the springs from the other garage door and replaced the new ones and it worked fine.
My question is, are the white color coded (110lbs) spring to strong for my garage door? The old springs are a bit rusted and it's color code looks a bit like silver. HD only carries 90, 110, 130lbs springs.
Some bits of information:
Garage door is 7x8 uninsulated , I weighed the unsprung side of the door and it shows around 50lbs.
