galvanized nails not for PT wood?

I have always heard that it is okay to used galvanized nails for redwood and pressure treated wood. But I've just read a couple of internet articles stating that redwood, cedar and PT wood have acids that eat zinc, which means you should only use stainless steel or aluminum nails with those materials.

What gives?

Not completely true. With pressure treated wood, you must use HOT DIPPED galvanized nails. Electro-plated galvanized nails don't have enough protection. Hot dips will work fine, or stainless is an expensive but better alternative. For redwood, I'd use stainless to minimize streaking.

Actually, aluminum nails installed in PT will rust from galvanic reaction.
