Gable vent-proper installation?

I am installing aluminum gable vents on my new garage construction. I have OSB for sheathing and I am using 4 x 8 Hardi Panels for siding. Do I install the vent before or after the siding?

Opps, or before. I suppose it depends on the vents really. I have seen vents that screw to the outside and some that screw to the sheathing and are sided around. Do you have the vents yet?

Yes I do, they have a thin flange all the way around them. It looks as though they should go up last, if I put them up before the siding, I would need something to trim the siding out with.

Yea, and with 4x8 panels this can be tricky but not impossible. Just screw them on and caulk them good then trim them out and caulk the trim.
