Vinyl. I dont have a camera. The fascia usually has a 3/4 lip on it though so that won't work.

gable end question

Is this new construction or just redoing the siding? Usually when there is no soffit you install a 1x6 or 2x6 along the roof line and the roof sheathing goes over it along with drip edge and then you use a piece of fascia to "wrap" the board and then side up to it. If you don't have anything how are you going to end your siding at the top and keep it water tight?

the roof line (shingle edge)up the gable will determine what type of fascia is needed up the gable. roofing needs at least an inch overhang past the fascia depending on the type of roofing. A shingle rake over top the fascia butted to the roof line can also be added to extend the thickness of the fascia.

My gable end is a 2x4. Should I just double up the end gable with a second 2x4? When I wrap it what kind of fascia can I use that I can tuck the siding into though?

Can I add another 2x4 to the gable end to increase it by an inch and a half?

maybe a cornice is what you are referring to or a water table that wraps the overhang around the outside corner and returns back into the wall.

Yes that is it. Do you know how to frame one? I can't seem to find instructions online.

the overhang blocks that form the overhang can be taken to the outside of structure and cut to fit the angle of the roof rafter and installed up under said roof rafter forming the outside of the soffit. without details like size of overhang and pitch of roof I can only go so far with recommendations.

When you install the sub fascia board does that have to be bevel cut at the top to match the roof pitch?
