I need a dormer 05-13-2011 08:57 AM

Full house dormer

I live in Michigan in a tri-level home. I would like to purchase a full prefabricated dormer to place on top of one side of my home. I would also consider having someone build a full dormer from scratch. Does anyone know of any companies that can assist me with this project. I would like to purchase the prefabricated dormer for between 9000 and 10000 dollars if possible. Can someone please give some referrals if possible as to where I can locate a prefabricated dormer. Or some companies that would build a dormer for around that price. I believe I would need between 700 and 750 square feet. Thanks for all of your help.

I must say I've never heard of a prefabricated dormer (full or otherwise). Maybe there is such a thing for use in new construction. I can't imagine it'd be easy (or inexpensive) to retrofit one to an existing house.

On a tri-level home......... all crane work for 10 grand or less. Someone saw a picture in Better Homes & Garbage magazine and joined a DIY forum for information on the cheapest route.

Let's see a 750 sq. ft. dormer for $13.33/sq. ft.

Now that includes material and labor and maybe install?

Does that include demo and haul-away of the roof area?

Ehhh.......ain't going to happen.

Andy.
