French Doors

Hello

We are looking to have French doors installed with access to the garden at the rear. The existing window is 1660 mm wide and 2040 mm height.

There is a gas pipe that runs underneath the window that feeds the fire in the living room.

My question is twofold really.

Will the gas pipe that feeds the fire need to be dug underneath the surface and if so how far down should this go?

If I get a contractor in to do this job (ie install the doors and sink the pipe (if this is necessary)), what sort of cost should I expect to incur?

many thanks in advance. A diagram of the pipe and window is attached.

Chris

Local code would dictate where the pipe needs to go. Check their first.

I assume you are not in the states since you are using the metric system and I have no idea what the codes are in different countries.

You are right "Marvin Gardens" I am in the UK and so would need to see what our local building regs would say I guess unless there is someone that views this forum that can help.
