Free standing shed on piers?

I just found the site yesterday and find its great for info. I am trying to build a firewood storage shed and want to use piers as my base. Can I put 4x4 posts on the piers and connect the sides and top to the posts?

I have a pic of what was started and would like help please.

Wood is heavy. You will have to have a stout foundation and some joists that will hold the weight all depending on how far the span is.

The short answers is yes, you can just put it on pier blocks. The only thing that is a concern is the wind if it is not secured to the ground. A strong wind could move the building. This is unlikely if it is full of wood. If this is a concern you could put a strap into the ground secured with some concrete.

My shop at my vacation home is like that. Just pier blocks and joists.

I took the old picture a month or so ago and it fell. So I redid the ground with my tiller and got this far today, any other opinions?

I take it the firewood will be sitting on the ground and the shed is just to keep the weather off? So there won't be much load on the foundation, just the walls and roof. You might get some frost heave, but who cares, it's just a firewood shed

I hope it worked so that he did not die in a catastrophic shed collapse 3 years ago.

His body might still be there with the water running in the kitchen for coffee.

I had a neighbor that had one that was similar to this one in structure....he never really finished the job and ended up burning the shed as well....
