Framing Joists to Concrete Ceiling

Hi Guys

I have a concrete bunker room under my garage. The walls and Ceilings are both concrete. When I purchased the house the walls were already framed with metal studs. I was wondering what my options are for framing or making joists on the ceiling to attach drywall too. And also I would like to put lighting into the ceiling in forms of small pot lights. This is going to be my theatre room. The room measures 22x22 feet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

No one has any suggestions or ideas???

Gary..Maybe you can tell me why they shouldnt be there? Like I said I just bought the house and that is how it came. The home inspector said it was fine because they studs are 3 inches away from the concrete.????
Maybe you can help me out and tell me what should be there instead

Thanks

This is under your garage? Vehicle parking on top? I am interested to know the construction of the concrete ceiling to stay up there?

Instead of drywall, how about a close clearance suspended ceiling? Anchors into the concrete to hang it from?

I guess you could attach 2x4s flate on the ceiling to the ceiling with a ramset, then 2x4s on edge on the side of the attached 2/x4s (forming a L shape). Then 90 degrees to these, nail 1 x 3s, then sheetrock it. This should give you if math is right, the 4" drop to the top of the wall framing. Or, suspended ceiling as suggested, may be a lot easier.

Thanks for the suggestions guys

I think im going to go with the suspended ceiling.... much less work than trying to hang 2x4s up...i did think of that too.. just seems like alot of work and alot of weight hanging over if anything ever happened (earthquake) or what not.

For a suspended ceiling ... Do you guys think I should glue up some hard styrofoam insulation? or leave it as is since I have the garage above...
Im just a little concerned about the Cement mildue type smell in the room ???

Thanks again
Pat
