Framing interior walls
The outside walls of my basement storage room was done proior to my purchase of the house, I would now like to finish off the space. When framing it do I frame to the existing wall ( the drywall) or remove that section and frame to the studs of the existing wall?

If there is a stud behind the drywall where you new wall is going then just frame away, but if there is no stud you will have to remove a section of drywall from the center of each stud closest to where your wall is going and either make a wall pocket( 3 studs which make up 6- 1/2") or blocking 2 foot on center.
