Framing an interior wall from plans.
I have a question and it's probably as basic as it gets but this came up and had me second guessing myself. Hope someone can chime in and answer this question.
When framing the interior walls in a home and the plans show a 6ft room do you account for sheetrock and add an extra inch making the room 6'1"?? |
Any plans I've seen will show you the bottom plate layout not the finsihed size.

Not usually.
Is the measurement to the center or edge of the wall? |

It was from the edge of the bottom plate to the edge on the opposite wall. |
That question should have come up prior to building the wall. If there was going to be cabinetry or something, the measurement is more critical. Did he say why it needed to be 6' after drywall?

I would disagree. I have seen many plans and the overwhelming majority do not include the drywall.

Let me guess, he is one of those GC's with the perfectly manicured hands? Just cause he has been thinking the same thing for a long time doesn't make it correct. |

In over 2000 plans I have seen, only once was there a notation. it was a beginning architect. |
Do you guys think it might be a regional thing? I'm in FL

Buy some bad lumber, crown all studs to the outside and then you'll account for the sheetrock. 6 ft room.
