Framing Door and Window beneath LVL Beam

I am framing an addition. I have a beam (double 2x10 LVL's) accross the top. Underneath, there will be a 6' sliding glass door and a window.

Between the bottom of the beam and what will be the top of the door (and window) there is about a 6" gap.

How do I frame the window and above the door? Do I need jack studs and additional headers? Or can i just frame in the rough opening size and put blocking between the top of the frame and the bottom of the LVL's?

thanks!

Up to you.

You could just pad it down but you will weaken the R-Value of the wall.

If it is easier, just pad it down.

Run a 2x6 across between the studs at the height needed. Add in little cripple studs (about 4.5" every 4' (in a 6' opening just put one centre.) Because it is under 16" (or 2') you do not need studs every 16".
