Framing a basement

I am finishing my basement. My exterior walls are 2x6 construction. Can I use 2x4 to frame out interior walls.
I have to frame in around my ceiling forced hot air ducts. Is there any minimum clearance that I need to have.
Is there somewhere that I can find these building codes in writing. I am in Massachusetts.

Call your building department, you will need permits anyway.

Welcome Jaredlgoldman, to the best darn DIY'r site on the web.

2x4's are fine for framing and generally 1" clearance is needed from the supply air duct.

There are requirements in some areas for fire blocking that will need to be adhered to, either the local library or building department will have the specific code answers you are looking for.
