Foundation Problems

My house is literally splitting in half on one side of the house. There is a gap between the bricks from the bottom of the bricks up to the gutters. The gap goes from half an inch to 3 inches. The bottom of the house (foundation) looks fine....why would it split? How do I fix the gap? I bought the house 2 years ago and there was nothing mentioned in the house inspection. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Foundation Problems

3 inches is a serious crack. Have you got a photo of it? When you moved in 2 years ago was there any cracking, or is this recent?

Foundation Problems

You are going to need a professional (i.e. this will not be free) investigation by a local foundation engineer. There is simply no way anyone can diagnose such a potentially serious problem over the internet, pictures or no pictures. As for recommending solutions over the internet, until you have a detailed diagnosis of the problem, it is pointless to discuss solutions.

Foundation Problems

The curing and or hydration process may not have been right. I know if the foundation is poured and it gets frozen within 24-48 hours it could cause cracking.
