foundation post place direct int ground


it it smart to use 6x6 treated post as a foundation directly in the ground?

No, unless you want a temporary foundation (even if it meant for direct contact and is not "pressure treated").

If it is a foundation for structure, the cost of repair later is far greater than doing it right in the first place. Just use a concrete post with a galvanized bolting plate the keeps the wood slightly above the concrete (1/2").

What does that mean? Foundation for what ...and are you talking about sticking 6x6's in the ground with no concrete?

Wood has been used as footings and foundations before, what exactly are you trying to do?
