Footings concerning a plllar at a corner

If you examine my pictures, you will see that if I brick up the old fireplace (by effectively constructing a pillar - which you see in (C) at the bottom of my drawing) I will end up with a corner structure. And if and when I put up an "I" beam, it will sit on a corner point.

Someone said, fill that hole with hardcore then lay 300mm of concrete and that will be okay.

Now, I have no doubts that if I do that the footing would take the weight no problem, but would the regulations be satisfied?

I think I have to fill that hole with concrete, so that it would satisfy inspection. What do you think?

The hole is 560mm x 560mm a 750mm deep. At bottom is the original concrete footings.

Thanks. Rich

I would fill it with concrete. But the best way to find out if it will pass inspection is to call up the inspector and ask. They will come over and have a look and tell you what you need to know.
