floor joist


My floor joist run N. to S. there is a section of sub floor by the bathtub that is cut out including the floor joist. where the joist have been cut out they put in perpindicular floor joist and attatched the to the joist . What are those smaller joist called?

If you could post a picture of what you are describing it would be helpful, sounds like a header but not exactly sure based on your description.

floor joist


Sounds like a header where they put in the shower or toilet drain. There are still proper and improper ways to do that tho. Pics?
