Floating bathroom cabinet

Now Ron, you know Washington's dentures weren't made of wood, right? And I know he didn't DIH.

So about my bathroom.... I'm probably being weird to want such a cabinet, floated off the floor, but I wanted to go for something like this:

http://www.buykitchencabi.net/index...._image&pID=125

The left side of the cabinet will be able to attach to a wall/corner, so that reinforces it a lot. The room is very small, so opening up the floor and showing more tile is a good thing, I think. I have just installed a pocket door in the shared wall between this bathroom and the bedroom. I'm thinking we won't shut the door all that often, so from the bedroom, you would be able to see directly in at the cabinet and could look farther under it to appreciate the floating effect than maybe is even possible from standing in the bathroom.

My father in law is hot on the task of fabricating reinforcement plates. I hate to even admit how much overkill I'm planning, so I won't. Let's just say I could climb up here and jump up and down, and I doubt the grout between the counter and the backsplash would crack.

I might as well chronicle the entire room effort while I'm at it... but maybe I would have to move the thread elsewhere? I'll be doing drywall, tiling, some faux effects on the walls, a crazy mirror concept, many more things to the room. So do I need to make a different thread? Now, it's not all about the floating cabinet... I'm new here, just signed up yesterday, so I don't know exactly how this all works yet.

Floating bathroom cabinet

Hey Renate - that's a nice looking bathroom sink/vanity you posted. I think it'll be a good choice in a small bathroom.

The bottom line is that it's entirely possible to do that, provided you do it right. And it sounds like you've researched it and are doing it right!

Be sure to post some pictures when you're done!
