Flashing where ledger meets siding?

I've got this little section of deck where a set of stairs will be. Free standing in this area is not an option because I don't have enough room for all the posts I would need.
How do I flash between the ledger and the siding? My first thought was to extend the ledger flashing (as pictured) but after I modeled it, I think that water will just run behind the siding. Should I trim the flashing back even with the top of the ledger and fill the gap between the siding and ledger with caulk? There is a double layer of IWS behind this gap.

Edit: added a deck layout to add context. The part marked in RED is where these pics are.

You should add another piece of flashing that overlaps a few inches over the lower piece of flashing and then “bend it” up to cover the couple inches of exposed ledger.

Then cut the flap of the ledger flashing and fold the overhang down over the end.

In other words, wrap it.

Flashing where ledger meets siding?

This has been puzzling me for over a week. The PVC water table has the flashing built in to it, it also acts as the first 1.25" starter strip for the siding.
Do you mean add a piece of flashing that sits on top of the water table and tuck it under the newly bent down inch of "flashing overhang"?

What do you think of this idea... cut back either the water-table or the ledger by 3/4" and glue and screw in a strip of 0.5x1.5 wide PVC block (to match the width of the 2x). Kind of like boxing it in... having something with the same dimensions as the ledger may be easier to flash

Don't forget to change that window's glazing at the stairs to safety glass: http://www.deckmagazine.com/article/54.html

Good eye, picking out that hint of Vycor.
Unless I’m not understanding fully but the more I think about it, the less I think that wrapping the end of the ledger will work.
The problem is above it. There’s slightly more than 2” space between the top of the ledger flashing and the next course of siding. This is to allow some room for the decking and a gap between that and the siding. Water will run along the top of the ledger flashing and run behind.

There is 18" of IWS behind and above the ledger. I'm trying to keep that as the last line of defense rather than operational.

Flashing where ledger meets siding?

i understand, but i think Ron's suggestion will work,i wouldn't try any type of caulking as long as any water that gets in,can get out you should be fine

seems to me the sheathing is well protected

How is that ledger attached to the structure?

Give you an idea of what they may require: http://www.lancova.com/deckinfo.pdf

A trick I use: add a continuous caulking bead along the ledger's bottom outside edge to help drip water away from the foundation.
Sticky wrap on the built beam's top, a lot more- just search "decks" above.

Flashing where ledger meets siding?

Thanks Gary, I've got it already. Truth is, I'm not building this deck until the end of next year. I'm working on siding now.
I think I figured out a solution. What I need is some kind of kick out flashing. When I figure it out and put it together I'll take a pic and post.
